Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of an RN, the LVN staff nurse provides nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures. In collaboration with the patient, the patient's family and other members of the health care team, the 3 South LVN plans, implements, evaluates, and coordinates the plan of care.

What qualifications you will need:

REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS

• Current LVN licensure that allows the practice of Vocational Nursing in the State of Texas
• Current BCLS
• ACLS upon hire or one time grace period of 60 days for staff transitioning from med/surge unit to progressive care unit.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma

PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

• IV certification preferred
• Read and write basic English
• Knowledge of body substance isolation
• Ability to move in excess of 100 pounds with assistance from others
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem solving skills
