Code White Requirements:

Staff or clinical nurse (non PSP)

Minimum of 2 years critical care experience

Recommendation by MD

NIHSS, ACLS, BLS Certified

CCRN certified (or within 1 yr.)

Up to date education on: Arctic Sun, CRRT, TPA, HD disconnect

Position Summary:

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status. Code White nurse will respond to:

S troke team

Code Blue

Rapid Response

Sepsis alert

STEMI

Code Violet

Round on patients that

o Were recently transferred out of the ICU/CICU in last 24 hours

o Had a recent Rapid Response or Code Blue alert in last 24 hours

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

  • Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes.
  • Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations.

  • Displays leadership that influences optimal clinical and operational outcomes.

Education

  • (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Required or
  • (MSN) Master's Degree in Nursing Required
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of nursing process and practice. Required
  • Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices. Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio Required and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on clinical area standards.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on clinical area standards.
