Summary:

This position is responsible for preparing and passinginstruments and equipment for assigned surgical procedures inaccordance with hospital and department standards and isresponsible for carrying out identified patient care needsdelegated by an RN, Physician or Manager/Supervisor. This positionfulfills scrub role for patients undergoing complex specialtyprocedures.

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital -Westover Hills (CSRH-WH) is a 150-bed hospital serving the fastestgrowing area of San Antonio. Specialized care includes orthopedicand surgical services, ICU, women's services, a newborn nursery,comprehensive cardiovascular care from diagnostics to open heartsurgery, vascular lab, sleep center, emergency services, theCHRISTUS Weight Loss Institute, wound care, rehabilitation, andmore. The campus also boasts an Outpatient Imaging Center and threemedical plazas, one of which houses our CHRISTUS Santa Rosa FamilyMedicine Residency Program and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family HealthCenter.

Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalent isrequired.
• Completion of surgical technologyprogram is required.
• Two or more years ofexperience is preferred.
• Abilityto proficiently scrub 3 specialty areas including but not limitedto: Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib,Robotics etc. is highly preferred.
• Must haveknowledge of aseptic technique and be able to competently practiceaseptic technique.
• Must demonstrate competencyto monitor and control the surgicalenvironment.
• Have the knowledge and ability tooperate various types of sterilizing equipment, surgical powerequipment, endoscopic equipment, as well as complex instrumentsystems.
• Must be able to perform as a teammember and work in a collaborative relationship with other staffand physicians.
• Computer skills veryhelpful.
• Must be able to handle multipledemands in the surgical suite.
• Current CPRcertification (American Heart Association) is required.
• Must have completed an accreditedsurgical technology education program AND hold thecertification.
